Teaching Reading Made Easy - 90% of Kindergarteners Reading Ready
Fairview Elementary decided to start 5 of their 6 kindergarten classes and their lowest performing 2nd grade class on Sound Reading Solutions. As a result, their students, especially the kindergarten classes, improved their reading ability dramatically. Most impressive about these improvements is the fact that Fairview is considered the most learning impacted elementary school in Guilford County with 99% of the school on free and reduced lunch, approximately 89% minority students and 10% students who speak English as a second language.
Benefits Achieved:
Students and teachers loved using Sound Reading Hop, Skip & Jump™ software because it was fun and easy. The students were engaged and eager to learn. While teaching reading, the teachers were astounded by the phenomenal results and by the short amount of time it took for them to start to see improvement. They saw a spark in their students that had previously been missing.

Students’ reading comprehension, phonemic awareness and fluency improved dramatically (phonemic awareness is a student’s ability to distinguish one sound from another in a word and is a good indicator of reading ability). Those who were once far behind their peers are now nearly caught up in only a short time by using this teaching reading program. Now, 90% of the kindergarteners are at grade level or above reading readiness at the end of the school year.
